Some things just defy explanation....

Proof that my life is way too bland:

I tend to have interesting story-dreams -- and for some bizarre reason, they mostly seem to show up in the last part of the sleep cycle, so that I'll get to the really interesting part, then gradually come awake as my subconscious is trying desperately to tie up whatever thread has been running, even as it drifts toward awake-ness and the orderly part of my mind persistently and unsuccessfully tries to impose order on the dream-story.

I'm usually left with one particular image that sticks, and one from a couple of mornings ago stands out for sheer weirdness:

For whatever reason, I was renting ice skates -- but I was renting them out of a vending machine, such that I had put money in, the skates went CLUNK!-THUD! down a chute, and I had to reach into the hopper at the bottom and carefully grab them one skate at a time by the blades in order to pull them out. (I think there were also special socks to go with the skates, but that was about where I woke up and lost the thread.)

Easily the most interesting thing that's happened to me all week....
