Modern interpretations of Wonder Woman have, for decades, said that she's actually invulnerable; she is often badass enough that she can throw down with Superman on an equal footing. This comic refers to it in a humorous way:

So a lot of fans would understand that. (Besides, if you figure out how tough you'd have to be to bounce large caliber bullets off your bracelets routinely, you come to realize the person PROBABLY could take hits from bullets directly)
