I have way too much on my plate this week -- books to read for review, con-related matters, a new and sizeable paying project, a slowly dying TV set.

But also landing in my lap is the new S. M. Stirling novel, Dies the Fire. This is the flip side of his "Nantucket" series, showing what happened to us present-day folks while the Nantucketers were coping with life Way Back When.

And it stars a lady folk singer of the pagan persuasion, one "Juniper Mackenzie". Who bears a really striking resemblance to a certain popular-in-the-genre-community folk singer whose name I likely don't need to mention to most of this gallery.

Color me exceedingly amused, and I've barely skimmed through the first couple of chapters.
