Just came out of a brief midmorning doze (hey, it's the Fourth of July) to the sound of an unusually loud and long-lasting jet engine ZOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!! going by somewhere overhead.
Between the doze-daze and the peculiar geography of my apartment (ground floor of a three-story building, surrounding trees in back, neighboring buildings in front), I couldn't get to a window soon enough to see what it might have been, but I am pretty darned curious about what that serious a jet was doing flying over metropolitan Portland this morning. As far as I know, we don't have any airshows going on nearby....

(I never had Mr. Winegar, I'm pretty sure Bill Pressly's retired, and last I looked -- not that long ago -- Berk Moss was doing curriculum development in the Beaverton district's central office.)
Wedding poem for Janene -- whoa. I have most of my old poetry notebooks around here somewhere, but while I well remember writing that wedding poem, I am not at all sure I could lay hands on a copy.
